Björn Broekman’s review published on Letterboxd:
I somehow never got around this Disney classic before, even though I've been a huge Disney fan as a kid. So, it's really quite weird. I actually planned on watching the new one today, but suddenly realized that I had never watched the original yet. So, it seemed logical to watch that first. And it's really quite great. Although the villain is a bit undercooked here, the central characters do have great arcs and strong personality. The animation is gorgeous and the soundtrack helps creating a moody aesthetic that feels very authentic. The story is thematically very rich and reaches heights that are seriously thrilling and compelling, while never losing the fun factor out of sight, which lots of humour that works. A very strong Disney outing. One that child me would have loved a lot too, I'm really quite sure about that!
