films are always better after lining up for three hours to rush it at a film festival. still good, but not a 4.5. benoit blanc singing sondheim is an added half star itself, but the “Hugh did this” line reveal and the knife thing almost make this go down a half star. almost. Oh, worm? The Lynch film is better. There are no stakes to anything, the dialogue is awful, and it is so long and boring. Oh, and Hans Zimmer’s BWAAAAHs are back.

My favourite of the festival so far. The fact that this is Karam’s début feature is unbelievable, but the biggest surprise of this film for me was Amy Schumer’s fantastic performance, in which she absolutely held her own against five actors at the top of their game. Any film with music by Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Caroline Shaw is already catering to me, but this may be one of the best films I’ve seen in my three years at the festival.
