1940s- Criterion Challenge 2023
A spectacular slow burning noir. Joseph Cotton is fantastic as is Orson Welles. It has some of the best black and white cinematography I've ever seen, if not the best. I had never heard of Alida Valli but she really commands the scenes that she is in. The only negative is that the story is a bit slow in the beginning but the third act truly makes up to it.

Action/Adventure- Criterion Challenge 2023
This was a movie that I was extremely excited for and it unfortunately live up to the expectations that I had. In fact, it was pretty bad. The main characters were quite wooden, with the only standouts being Conrad Veidt and Sabu. The only positive was the special effects. But the movie was quite boring for the first half of the runtime. Only after that did the film have more special effects and action. But before it focuses on the two lifeless main characters falling in love.

The Last Duel 2021
A really great film, unfortunately Scott's storytelling is the worst part of the film. Seeing events three times is not bad but the movie focuses on it too much and for too long to where it becomes boring. The actual duel is done exceptionally well and is truly exciting. Jodie Comer is great and so is Matt Damon. I also thought the dialogue was great. Its a shame that Scott meanders in telling the same events three times, with only slight variation.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 1931
A fantastic Pre-Code, old Hollywood horror film. Fredric March is terrific as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde and is able to play both parts convincingly. The makeup to transform him into Hyde is incredible and still somewhat terrifying. It is a short film and doesn't waste any time in its runtime. The only downside is Miriam Hopkin's Cockney accent. I usually love her but she was not the best choice for a Cockney streetwalker.
