I remember liking this movie and laughing alot when I saw it theaters. But I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it on the second viewing.
The cinematography is actually pretty fantastic for an action-comedy and there are camera movements and frames that are not usually found in these types of movies.
The color grading and correction is also beautiful and really brings that retro feel to this period piece.
But let me talk about the gorgeous Ryan Gosling for a moment, if I may. He is phenomenal in this part. It isn't something I am used to seeing him do; it felt more like the other Ryan's schtick to be honest. But man, he is so pitch perfect in this anyways.
And it is not light on the laughs either. Just a really solid detective story infused with comedy gold.
