Bill Murray’s best performance. I wasn’t remembering this movie being as emotional as it was but I did indeed find myself crying.

I said those things, I did those things. It’s who I am.

My mom watched it for the first time and she loved it. One of the funniest movies of the 2010s

    Changed this whole thing dramastically!”

Wayyyyy better than the first for me. Borderline 4 star territory I don’t give a fuck. McG needs to stick to doing slashers because when he tries remotely anything else it’s annoying as hell. Robbie Amell is genuinely so perfect in his role, him wearing the name tag while shirtless got a genuine laugh out of me

  • Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

    Borat Subsequent Moviefilm

Not as good as the first but when it’s exposing Republicans as the Nazi Shitbags that they are it’s at its peak. I also loved Borat having actual character development??? Good shit

If the movie had a better song it would possibly be in 4.5 range. Wayyyyy fucking better than I remembered it being for the past 4 years of my life. Tonally, it’s quite different than the other Craig 007 films, but it works in its favor. Bond telling a security guard “No! Stay!” like he’s a dog is the funniest Bond moment ever I think

  • Capone

    Capone

    ★★

Tom Hardy pissing and shitting himself and talking like a goddamn gangster goblin wasn’t enough to make this less boring. I appreciate the take Trank was going for but the execution is a lifeless drag.

Incredible first act but falls apart a bit by th- you know what who cares when you open with:

*BUH NUH NUH NUH NUHHH, NUHNUHNUHNUHNUH
    BUH NUH, NUH NUH NUH
    BOWWW NOWNOWNOW*

IF YOU TAKE A LIIIIIFEEEE DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’LL GIIIVEEE? ODDS ARE YOU WONT LIKE WHAT IT ISSSS. WHEN THE STORM ARRIVES, WOULD YOU BE SEEN WITH MEEEE, BY THE MERCILESS EYESSS OF DECEIT *guitar riff and drums intensifies* I’VE SEEN ANGELS FALL FROM BLINDING HEEEEEIGHHHTSS. BUT…

It’s been way too long since I last watched this and man, it hits even harder than I remembered. This *might* be Rian’s best but when you’re as good as he is, any film could be his best. Also, watching this and seeing JGL made me happy he’s starting to get work again, I missed that man.

  • Midnight Special

    Midnight Special

    ★★★½

A bit more emotional weight to this and it could easily be 4-4.5 star range. All of the lead performances are great, although some I feel slightly underutilized. Michael Shannon is easily one of the best working actors today and I wish he was my father. The lesser of the Shannon being Martell’s dad cinematic universe.

    I'm Thinking of Ending Things

    ★★★½

I feel like an eventual rewatch will bump this up to 4 stars (or maybe even higher, who knows). OR, it could do quite the opposite and go down. For now, I enjoyed what I saw and had a good time with the constant existential dread layered in with 450 other themes. Jesse Plemons is a future all timer, absolute god tier talent, I love him and hope to see him continue to dominate every role he grabs. Also, I definitely plan on trying to read the book here soon.
