Surprisingly earnest, this absurdist tackling of existential dread is wholly originally while also being openly derivative. It is also one of the silliest rated R movies I have ever seen and somehow that approach is what opens you up to its heart. Almost like an open challenge to themselves, Daniels not only want to take the silliest bits and milk them for all their worth, by the end they want you to be crying and laughing at those same images.…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Silly, existential and really fucked up when you think about it. While there are plenty of flaws, I respect how good of a job the film does at physically containing the story while having the stakes be as high as can be. I also really liked how the film’s stakes are the stakes and there is no magic final moment way to reverse them.
For as dumb as it can get, it swings big and I had a blast!
