Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ★★★★★

I think it’s safe to say that this film is the greatest animated feature to happen in a very long time. What I saw was an incredible origin story that sat well with me through its compelling narrative and impressive animation style. It truly was a year’s worth of anticipation fulfilled correctly. Into the Spiderverse composed a splitting image on young Brooklyn nativity, while being inventively fictitious at the same time. From the area Miles Morales is growing up in, to the clothes he wears, to the music he listens to, he is a perfect reflection on a young community.
Which brings me to powerful representation. As cliche as it sounds, Miles Morales reflected traits of many of the people I know. I see my brother in Miles Morales. I see my dad in Miles Morales. The ruthless little black boys who ride their bikes up and down the block and play basketball around the corner, I see them in him, as well. It’s a universal film to be learned from. And I’m anticipating to learn much more.
