New profile pic, means a long awaited rewatch to make sure this movie joins my FIVE STAR CLUB. Once again, (sounding like a Bernie Sanders meme lol), I’m asking you all to give this emotionally powerful film a chance…

To quote a past review of mine as to why:
I think why this movie resonants with me so much, aside from the obvious LGBT+ issues that it examines, is how unspoken a lot of it is.The film isn’t nicely tied…

Loaded with Hitchcock references but especially to FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT, and with more than just the umbrella gag. The chases have the same goofy relish, too (the jetpack hamburger gag here might as well be the old guy trying to cross the street during the car chase in CORRESPONDENT). Hitchcock's film urged the U.S. to enter the war a year before Pearl Harbor, Spielberg's warned of a society willing to give up a few civil rights for possibly illusory safety not even a year after 9/11.

If you hated the ending of Sunshine, holy shit dude how do you describe the amount of swings this movie takes? Buckley and Kinnear totally commit to this wacky material, and if they didn’t this would so tank. Coming out it’s my least favorite of solo Garland’s work, but I’m game to see it again. Puzzle that I want to piece together.

Soundtrack and sound design are incredible too!

Something tells me Kurt would’ve absolutely despised this.

However, the two sequences of Blake making music were eerily similar to the shit from Montage of Heck which wouldn’t come out for another nine years so props I guess?

Surprisingly shorter than I thought, with some incredible visuals and a return to an interesting world that also felt new and exciting to come back to. Consider me really damn impressed.

But enough about the Avatar Way of Water Trailer.

As for Doctor Strange, I expected more horror, Danny Elfman’s score was a bit one note for me which left me disappointed and the America character felt like bad musical theatre.

But disregarding all that- did the writer of this…
