Brandon Vander Hey’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's always great to get a quality genre movie that is going to have staying power. Don't Breathe is a relentlessly tense and refreshingly original bottle thriller. Great performances, impeccable production and sound design, and a stunning directorial vision from Fede Alvarez.
There are a few plot holes and the ending is a painfully obvious studio mandate, but if you're looking for smart, exciting, efficient horror, this hits all the marks. I'm so happy Fede finally accomplished something on this level. His Evil Dead was somewhat of a misfire but it was visually arresting and you could tell he had something special in him. Here it is. In just one film he's put himself in the ranks with James Wan, Adam Wingard and others as the best modern horror filmmakers.
