oh my god .... i was like “haha, they’re not gonna show live birth, right?!” and then they DID...... over and over again .... every possible angle ....... many many many different women ...... and this went on for ....... i wanna say at least 5 minutes ... but i don’t wanna go back and check . .,.,..,,....
and, okay, i knooooooow the artistic intent is LOOK AT THIS!!!! THIS IS WHAT YOUR MOTHER WENT THROUGH SO YOU COULD BE HERE!!!! IF JUST WATCHING IT IS BAD CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE THE AGONY OF FEELING IT!!!!!!!!
but .... i just wasn’t ready! you have to be prepared to watch something like Bodysong, and i just stumbled upon it while getting recreationally stoned and listening to jonny greenwood original film scores on this fine saturday night. i then decided i just HAD to watch every movie he’s ever composed and unearthed this one, thinking, “perfect! a 78 minute biology documentary with a JG score is exactly what i would like to get recreationally stoned to on this fine saturday night!” (i have always been drawn to biology, the most melancholic, mercurial, and majestic of the sciences)
anyway, yeah, this is probably a masterpiece (it won the BAFTA for best documentary???) but i couldn’t get farther than 20 minutes in. i can watch ANYTHING as long as i know it’s fake, but the real footage skeeves me out! ✌🏽
(if you are cool with a lot of graphic birth images and with giving money to overlord bezos, Bodysong is streaming on amazon prime. please, i beg of you, succeed where i’ve failed)
