You know that scene in Before Sunset when Celine and Jesse are riding together in the back of a cab, and while Jesse is monologing about something, Celine reaches out to touch his head? Her hand gets ever so close to his hair, and you can see the anxiety mixed with excitement on her face. The uncertainty of what she should do pushing against the passion of what she wants to do. But she pulls back her hand before she actually touches him and he notices. And she's momentarily left with a feeling of regret and doubt.
Imagine the emotions of that scene. Now build a masterful, delicate, brisk movie around those emotions. That movie would be In the Mood for Love.
