Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping ★★★½

Time has been kind to this late mockumentary. Popstar is twice as funny being both a focused jab at the mid-aughts and a broader parody of social media era celebrity which only gets more surreal everyday.

It's dumb, in-your-face, and absurdist but the trio have a surprising handle on the filmmaking side of things. The Lonely Island are truly talented artists and the music here is as high in goofy quality as their debut album. All the cameos are great, but Maya Rudolph's fridge saleswoman DeBORah is the best.

While this was already dated on release and so didn't garner much attention, it's also the last of its kind. For that, it's a fun note to end on.
