    Anna Taylor Joy doing an accent and wearing a flower crown at one point, men barking like dogs, a volcano, Willem Dafoe as a fucked up jester/shaman, mud as far as the eye can see, Bjork...this one has EVERYTHING.

    Whoever gave Robert Eggers this kind of budget was a madman and a fool and I hope they continue to stay that way.

    I guess my hot take for this is that I found it to be extremely straight forward above all else-I don't understand the criticisms of the director being too vague about his viewpoints. Ex Machina had more subtext to it!

    The decision to only cast a different actor to play the protagonist's abusive ex and not just have him played by the same actor playing the rest of the male roles was questionable (and frankly strayed into unfortunate racial stereotypes),…
