The first half is mesmerizing and Fonda and Gordon Willis are amazing throughout but the back half gets way less interesting. It feels like the thriller never interested Pakula nearly as much as the character study.

I really enjoyed this! It’s dopey and loose in a way that superhero movies are rarely allowed to be. Levi is excellent and it’s got just the right level of playfulness to not feel forced. A better villain and tighter first act and it coulda been legit great.

My middle son adores movies about unexpected heroism - Ralph movies and Iron Giant and BTTF being faves. In other words, he’s gonna watch this 149 times.

I’m not quite as over the moon as some of my colleagues but I am ALL IN for whatever this director does next.

The first Tuesday of every month, my village tests the emergency sirens, which means I think about Silent Hill monthly.

The best video game movie ever made. It's even better than I remember and the Shout Factory release is spectacular.

"Who expected the tenth installment of Hulu and Blumhouse’s series of holiday-themed horror films to be the best one? A lot of people I know gave up on “Into the Dark” a few months ago, right around the multi-month run of “Down,” “Treehouse,” “I’m Just F**king with You,” and “All That We Destroy” – a quartet of films that range from disappointing to horrendous. It was hard to blame anyone who jumped ship, but…

It’s kind of amazing that I think that this is a very well-done, enjoyable, smart movie that still didn’t quite convince me it needed to be made.

Would watch a Duke Caboom spin-off day one.

Downright comparable to Plan 9 From Outer Space in its basic cinematic incompetence.
