Toolbox Murders ★★★★

about as close to truly approximating Fulci as I've seen western horror get, not just in the gnarly kills department but in the way the hotel is a character itself, the claustrophobic trappings existing inside of an endless labyrinth of repressed trauma. ending drags a little long but other than that its mostly perfect. at a certain point I assume that people who discard non-classic Hooper films are the types of dudes who largely discount any horror made after the 80s and have shrines of Cassavetes made out of their old Crocs and organize their Critereon DVDs by color code while they write Wong Kar Wai pastiches about their exes from college.
