I’m happy upon rewatch of scream to raise my rating half a star. I think before I saw a lot of films scream references I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as I do now but what Wes Craven does with scream is absolutely brilliant. It’s already a good enough premise that makes for a good straight horror film but Craven interjects some humor here and there in the film, satirizing the horror genre and subverting expectations while everybody’s performances being perfect for their characters (I also think knowing the ending makes it a bit better for me on rewatch and I see the clues and things), all of this is really great.
Just makes me ask one question though, why doesnt Matthew Lillard get more roles?
