i will cut the thread of fate

    HOLY FUCKING FUCKKKKKK

this movie was not only brutal, but beautiful in its brutality. alexander skarsgard gives one of the most impressive performances of all time, with anya taylor joy providing a brilliant supporting role. a cycle of hate tale that is broad in its scope and greek in its narrative. some of the best cinematography i have ever witnessed in film. this is one of my favorites ever, that last hour is one of the most excruciating stretches of any piece of art i’ve ever seen. robert eggers you have outdone yourself.

watched this in two nights and i was hoping it’d grab my attention in the latter 2/3 of the movie but i’m pretty disconnected from everything in this movie. definitely some funny moments but johnny depp is just a drugged out ace ventura for the most part. benicio does his thing too, a bunch of cool camerawork, but no plot to be spoken of

love is necessary. pain is necessary. remembering how both of these crucial emotions feel is what matters most of all. without love or pain we cannot grow, and the combination of both is what makes life worth living.

    poof. he’s gone

i was completely clueless going into this film and thank god i was, because i did not figure out the ending until they gave Verbal that watch back. kevin spacey’s performance made me go back and make sure Keaton actually got shot, because i truly thought it was Kaiser Soze. one of the better crime movies i’ve seen for sure, and a really concise watch. nothing really crazy, but a great cast and plot that is incredibly easy to digest.
