Brian Sweeney’s review published on Letterboxd:
There's a lot to love about this, but for me it bounces between realism and surreal flourishes in a way that is too jarring. This should have leaned fully into surrealism and been a musical, which it clearly kind of wanted to be. Blindspotting also totally botches the ending. The final confrontation scene just lands in a very weird way, simultaneously being too on the nose but also somewhat unclear? It just didn't totally work for me and I'm having a hard time putting into words why that is.
All that aside, the performances are top notch and it has a lot of smart things to say about gentrification, race, and police brutality. And I'm really excited for whatever anyone involved in this does next.
