Jon?’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’m not even going to attempt to do a review that’s more literary and all that, cuz that’s been done to death regarding this film. And plus, this was such a mesmerising puzzle of an experience that I already know I’m going to need a few more rewatches in the future to really piece everything together.
No, instead it’s more appropriate to discuss how rich, and dreamlike, the cinematography was here. How the filmmaking was so well-crafted that it ultimately created something unlike anything I’ve seen before. How truly foreign everything here was to someone like me, yet it was still engaging. How by the end it felt like Kieślowski had made a story about art itself, but also about life, and identity. Again, this will take a lot more thinking over and dissecting to really comprehend what was going on here and, most importantly, what it meant to me.
‘The Double Life of Veronique’ really is something that needs to be experienced. I’ll be thinking about this one for a while.
