A fever dream. Every time you think you know what’s about to happen you’re wrong. An absolute mindfuck. Sex scenes were a bit sexist.

This movie doesn’t even make me feel sad, it makes me feel empty. I couldn’t keep myself from crying starting 15 minutes into the movie. Cinematographic masterpiece. Everything goes very calm and slow which emphasizes the sadness and emptiness of Hélène as well as Mathieu. Vicky Krieps was even better in Plus Que Jamais than in Corsage, the first movie i saw starring her. A movie like this about someone slowly dying could easily be executed very over the top but this stayed pretty subtle, which worked perfectly. Everything falls into place. Definitely go see this movie.

With horror/action movies like this I always wonder why the director has to involve aspects like incest or rape as a shock factor. Some things are just too sad and realistic to use as a shock factor. Another example is when the girl is hanging with her hands up against a mattress with her boobs out. To make it hot and sexy? I’m so confused by Park Chan-Wook, and I think he’s also kind of fucked up himself for coming up with a movie like this, sorry…

Horrible. In the first hour of the movie nothing really happens. And because the dialogs aren’t interesting that gets pretty dreadful. Also nothing happens that doesn’t have to do with the main story line; zero side tracks. And once the dutch family starts to become “weird”, the acting becomes so unnatural. Fedja van Huet’s acting is over the top. But its also just bad writing and directing that causes this. Karina Smulders’ acting is good but she gets like three…
