    Chungking Express

On May 1, 1994, a woman wishes me happy birthday. Now I’ll remember her all my life. If memories ever come in a can, I hope that can never expires. If it has to have a shelf life, I hope it’s 10,000 years.

Hopelessly heartsick, unspoken feelings, wistful regrets of missed chances and unrequited love are things all too familiar for characters in a Wong Kar-wai film. It’s such a shame when you start falling in love that you don’t…

    Fallen Angels

“As I was leaving, I asked if he’d give me a ride home. I hadn’t ridden a motorcycle in a long time. Actually, I hadn’t been that close to anyone for a while. The road wasn’t that long and I knew I’d soon be getting off. But at that moment, I felt such warmth.”As each day goes by I realize I’m living in a Wong Kar-wai world. A world full of beautiful, lonely people longing for connection or just that…

    The Midnight Hour

    Day 13
    31 Days of Halloween Marathon

I watched this the way God intended: on YouTube, on my phone and on a car ride. David Lynch would be proud. The Midnight Hour had no business to this good seeing that it’s a TV movie. 100% Halloween vibes that was just the coziest feeling. Zombies, vampires and werewolves - you get a little bit of everything. The soundtrack and score are bangers. Characters aren’t annoying! I imagine this may have actually scared kids when this aired on ABC. They don’t really tame anything down. I’m for sure adding this to my list of Halloween season rewatches.

    Hack-O-Lantern

    Day 22
    31 Days of Halloween Marathon

It’s times like these I’m glad I don’t use a star rating system. Hack-O-Lantern is by no means a good or coherent movie, but it’s so fun! Unintentionally comedic goodness. Sprinkle in some unnatural dialog, nonsensical writing and a dash of Satanism to get entertaining 80 minutes. Hy Pyke, bless his heart, put his soul into his performance. I’m certain they had to dub his lines. There was a moment where he spoke…

    HORRORx52 (2021)
    Progress: 43/52
    12. 1940’s

It’s hard to top the first film which is nearly perfect and my personal favorite old Universal horror, but The Invisible Man Returns proves to be a worthy sequel. What helped the most was giving Vincent Price the lead. He’s an absolute maniac that even Claude Rains would be proud of. Just like the first film, the effects are crazy good for it’s era. There’s plenty of…

    Halloween Kills

    Day 15
    31 Days of Halloween Marathon

Much like how Infinity War was a Thanos movie, Halloween Kills was a Michael Myers. Before you say well duh, I mean that we watch him persevere. It’s his story and it’s brutal. You feel his evil rage through the screen. He’s infected the town of Haddonfield and they are completely under his thumb. They can try to rise up against him, but it’s pointless. I loved every minute of this film. So…
