Iron Man 3 2013
It's strange, the way this film contains both what is really great about the Iron Man/Marvel films and what is great about Shane Black movies. If you've ever listened to Shane Black talk, he's hilariously self-conscious and tentatively confident. That is this movie. You will have to give yourself up to the movie if you're going to enjoy it...and I saw the movie with two people who weren't entirely sure they enjoyed it and struggled a bit during and after…

Battle Royale 2000
The cinematography in this movie is stunning. Some of the most classical, yet strangest compositions you'll see in a movie. There's tension in every frame.
The explosions of violence are awkward and real. The net effect is this is one of the most humane and emotional depictions of violence you'll see.

Bully 2011
You should watch this movie. It's a character study. It's a slice of these people's lives and the access and POV that Lee Hirsch found and the moments he was able to capture are sad and real and moving and infuriating.
There are three people I fell in love with in this movie, Alex, Alex's mother and Tyler's father. Amazing characters. Amazing people.
And there is one really great moment of true, real villainy that I won't spoil but when you see/hear it, you will not believe that it really happened.

7 Men from Now 1956
Can't remember what date I saw this movie, but this is my favorite Budd Boetticher movie, followed by Ride Lonesome and The Tall T.
