“They caught A shark. Not THE shark.”

Amongst all the horror and bloodshed beneath the surface, there is something whimsical about Brody, Hooper and Quint adventuring out on the water,  upbeat music and all. The teamwork, the bonding over scars, the thrill of the chase. You almost forget the danger they are sailing towards. Almost.

An absolute classic and a genuine masterpiece.

I bet Matt Reeves has a poster of Fincher in his bedroom and he just profusely masturbates to it daily

“Burn, cool, unload, reload.” Fuck. That line will sit with me for some time.

Brutal. Sadistic. A slow burn that manages to be continuously relentless in its brutality and revelations. Editing and cinematography is excellent. The camera rarely moves. Still, stationary and distant but still giving you a feeling of no escape. Unbelievable delivery of sound and off screen audio.

I don’t smoke but I feel like I need a cigarette after that! Equal parts chaotic, disturbing and darkly hilarious. Shot wonderfully, with the 4.3 ratio perfectly depicting the time and setting it takes place and an absolute fire soundtrack that I’m sure I’ll have on repeat. Everybody is on their A game here but Barry Keoghan is on another level. What an absolute star.
