This was right in my wife's and my wheelhouse. The tone was perfect all the way through and handled what I can imagine a ten year old boy's imagination living in Germany during WWII could be like as well as any film could. The Nazis are still portrayed as the horrible creatures they were, but with the human foibles that they had as well. No one is all bad any more than anyone is all good. People are just fucked up.
It was nice to see Sam Rockwell as the decent guy in a film like this, as often as he's called upon to be the piece of shit character normally.
