for sure the most interesting mcu movie. not just with characters but on a thematic level which is not as interesting as a marvel movie actually having something interesting about it. surprisingly takes a lot of the things that make an mcu movie an mcu movie and looks at it and questions it… if that makes any sense at all.
well, maybe it doesn’t. it almost for sure does that.
the idea that this tries to deconstruct the superhero genre in film came into my mind. mainly when it comes to heroes mot being able to interfere and stop bad things from happening. in that aspect it feels more like a theatrical cut of a zack snyder superhero film. i suppose this is a completed film so it’s not like you can give it a fair pass. this is the movie we’re getting so i guess we should view it as such. studio interference for sure did impact this movie in some way though. forced humor is very much present here but why wouldn’t it be? it’s an mcu movie !!
even so, that zack snyder comparison is very important with how i feel about this film. mainly because i feel zack snyder does a great job with making superhero characters feel so.. human? human, yes. it’s what this film tries so hard to make its characters feel like and it almost does. with almost human like characters like this it feels disconnected from the mcu, but at the same time it doesn’t. at the same times it feels like it fits perfectly within the mcu, and with it’s characters. that ending and those post credit scenes we get don’t even feel like the same movie. were they interesting? not as much as the rest of the movie was. though i am interested where seeing somethings go. blade is for sure a character that i’m excited to see in the mcu. i actually think it’d be interesting to see a movie like like this but with blade, even if those characters aren’t human. one of the things i’m trying to say is that i want to see more marvel films that aren’t so connected to each other. one of the better things about this film is that it features like no characters from any of the other mcu films. all of the other marvel movies feel like the same shit because they are all trying to lead to some huge event. with that it doesn’t feel like there’s anything interesting to come from them because they all feel like the same movie. the same shit. so really there’s no point to watch any of them because of how they are all trying to build to this huge thing that in the end i don’t give a shit about. i like that part of the movie. maybe it is building to some huge thing that i don’t care about. with this, i can look at this movie being separate from the mcu, which adds to my enjoyment of… most of it.
