4-5 stars for everytime Tiffany is on screen which thankfully is often. Whoopi was good too.
1 star for the corny writing and unlikable lead whose whole personality is being picky and lacking empathy.

Visually, this is one of the best looking films of the year. Impossible not to appreciate.

These children are soldiers in a nameless war with no context given so you aren't pushed to view them as good/bad and instead given more of a raw, immersive, day-in-the-life type experience. Instead of rooting, you are objectively witnessing which makes for a more realistic experience.

Shot in extremely harsh jungle conditions this has some of the best child acting I've seen. Better than Lord of the Flies; not as intense or shocking as City of God but even being compared to that masterpiece is a huge accomplishment.

Family takes on different meanings to different people. Ethics are subjective. Nobody's perfect. Money doesn't buy happiness.

Gets better on a 2nd viewing, there's really a lot of small detail to pay attention to and the characters roles play much different after knowing their backstory.

Sakura Ando has my vote for best actress and she needs to make more dramatic movies ASAP.

Great ensemble cast. Lots of fun. Surprised this wasn't a huge hit.
