  well worth the price of admission on conceit alone. it's rare enough to see any treatment of migrant workers in japanese film — or, for that matter, any fiction anywhere — but this one manages to deliver some pretty sharp commentary on top of also being a horror-comedy (!).

  the script goes to pains not to flatten the apartment's denizens (who, true enough to life, are incidentally all men; if they have families they're back home, supported by remittances). there…
