    2019 REVIEW #41
Read the review on Ripley, Signing Off.

A good, but not necessarily comforting film, especially now that my state just banned abortions and can criminally charge me for miscarrying or jail me for crossing state lines to get a legal abortion -- even if I'm a rape victim.

I won't get into politics or how the entire country is about to overturn Roe v. Wade, even if that's been on my mind 24/7. Rather, I'll just focus…

    2017 REVIEW #23 | EX MACH-NINA
Suggested by Kynky on my You Pick, I Watch list.

This film is pretty much summed up when Nina and Andrew have a conversation about Swan Lake at the bar.  He goes on to say how sad it is, and she responds with, no, it's beautiful. A gorgeous macabre, BLACK SWAN does not hesitate to make viewers queasy -- I myself had been making some pretty odd noises during some scenes -- and with its underlying tones lets the uncomfortable join the psychological in a gorgeous bond. It's a beautiful story. The best performance of Portman's career.
