it was cute! and it was definitely creative in its world-building by taking inspiration from other fairytales. i liked the costumes and set pieces for how unabashedly flamboyant and fantastical they were. but i didn't really care for the movie altogether, even with anne hathaway in the starring role.

william powell and myrna loy's chemistry as husband and wife and the way they engage with the characters around them is so wonderful that had the casting been different not many people would bother to remember it. next to morticia and gomez addams i'd say they are a perfect pair.
