7 of 9 critics gave it 0 stars.
Surprising. No critic gave this more than 2 stars.
Very polarizing. The three Cahiers representatives gave it 3-4 stars, while 3 reviewers gave it 0 stars.
Le conseil rated the shorts individually. Averages are below (/4 stars). Star rating reflects average of the averages.

Surprising score. Two stars each from Rohmer and Rivette. One rating of four stars, one of zero. This didn't reach France until 1961, so most had seen Bresson's Pickpocket before Fuller's film.
Would have had a 4 (of 4) average if Rivette didn't give this one zero stars.
Perhaps the most surprising rating by the conseil. Only 1 major figure, Rohmer, rated the film; he gave it one star.
Unanimous ***; no **** rating available yet. The four-star rating was installed in the next conseil de dix, so it is possible that A Man Escaped (and the desire to distinguish between the great and the masterpiece) played into this decision.
Only 2 ratings, but both ***
Ratings for Parts I & II combined.
