Caleb’s review published on Letterboxd:
It runs a bit too long, but I loved this. My favorite film I’ve seen at TIFF so far. It’s slick and so cool. Lorenzo Ferro, absolutely charms his way through this as Carlos and you can’t help but root for him despite his committing murder and stealing everything he can get his hands on. The images are bright, pop with color. The use of extreme close up here is a bit comedic. The soundtrack is really good, full of Spanish language rock and pop.
It’s never really explained why Carlos steals or eventually why he kills people, and the relationship between Carlos and Ramon just comes about as well without any set up. A lot of things just happen and it’s a bit frustrating at times, but that doesn’t really take away from the brilliance of this movie as you can sort of infer the missing information.
