Tyler Christian’s review published on Letterboxd:
After a solid first hour of stylish, suspenseful thrills, Don't Breathe falls flat on its face in a final act that is complete overkill in having no clue on when to ultimately cut to the end credits. All the actors are competent in their roles, especially Stephen Lang and Jane Levy, and Fede Alvarez continues to prove his worth as a good horror director. That being said, he should stick to just directing because the most noticeable flaws in his two features so far have lied in the script. From the overly serious tone in the first half of Evil Dead to the dragged out third act in Don't Breathe, Alvarez needs to either scale back his contributions or remove himself entirely to have another writer do it them self.
Given that so many people have really liked this film, I really wanted to be on the same boat. However when a movie has at least five different endings, that's where I draw the line. Nonetheless, I've still got my eye on Alvarez being one of the promising directors in the horror genre.
