Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home ★★½

It has so many ideas. Some of them are truly as strong as any Spider-Man has ever had. Mysterio may be my favorite villain in a strong rogue's gallery full of great ones. This MJ and Aunt May may be my favorites of those. I generally prefer a European experience to a New York one. The way it ends is really something (the after-credits sequence being more important than the events of the film). With the premise, it has trouble staying in one place and feels sloppy and unfocused where Homecoming was directed and succinct. The deconstruction of the very spectacle it creates feels like wrong place, wrong time. As much of this works as doesn't, leveling it out as a thoroughly down the middle experience.
