As far as feature film debuts go, an interesting one in how rough around the edges it is yet in some ways, already is a pretty clear formulation of lot of Wenders' later preoccupations, particularly in its use of the road trip as a means to examine the mental state and its use of soundtrack. And while I can't say I loved it, I also can't deny I was pretty engaged throughout by watching these early glimmers of a great director in the making.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar 2023
It’s…okay I guess, though I’ll admit as someone who loved the original short story, don’t think the medium of film or Wes Anderson’s style really added or enhanced much to it. There’s an occasional neat trick, looks nice, but I have to say it’s far more engaging on the page. There’s an odd sense of growing distance I feel between the likes of this and Asteroid City which I can’t quite pinpoint, can’t tell if it’s his style shifting or just my tastes changing, oh well.

Fun, inventive and at times genuinely a bit unnerving meta examination of a stop motion figure's existential crisis, capped off with a rather clever finale. Plays around with so many little fun tricks that makes it a smashing 12 minutes.
