If I could be at any movie premiere in history in order to experience it as the audience at the time did, I’d choose to file into the roughly 6,000-seat Radio City Music Hall at the height of the Great Depression to go see King Kong. Cannot even fathom what it was like seeing a spectacle like this for the first time. It sold out every single showing, ten times per day for a reason.
