I think it's my favorite Kitano film in the yakuza genre. The atmospheres are incredible and it manages to mix rough violence and a deep sense of poetry.
This film is the continuation of a beloved French TV series based on the Arthurian Legend. It is not well-known outside of the country (I'd be curious to know if there are foreign fans). During the six seasons of the original series, the story evolved from funny skits to a more epic and dark adventure. The story picks up were it ended: Lancelot is now the brutal leader of the country and Arthur fleed to Rome without Excalibur.
