Well now I'm annoyed because I was expecting to love this. I have seen plenty of praise about this film and the other two Baumbach films I've seen I loved (Marriage Story and Meyerowitz Stories). I thought it was alright but nowhere near what I thought it would be. Maybe it is good and this is just one of those films I simply didn't connect with. It's just a bit difficult to care about characters when they're all kind of obnoxious and self obsessed. Frances herself was quirky and sweet but everyone around her was insufferable and too busy smelling their own shits sort of like if a Woody Allen Film didn't have its transcendent wit to overcome its cockiness. Ok, Frances Ha really isn't as bad as I'm making it out to be and there are definitely things to enjoy but yeah, I was a bit disappointed.
