Cool, so this is one of the best things I’ve seen in recent memory.

Holy Motors is a film about performance — not only within the realm of art and visual media, but within life. As Mr. Oscar movies between bodies, scenes, and lives, we are choiceless but to surrender to each of the surreal landscapes of passion and play that make up his “appointments.” The result is a poignant, lonely, and deeply curious series of vignettes that graze multiple aspects and facets of human experience.

This film is heavily informed by our experience of virtuality and mass media saturation, and by a pervasive anxiety present around and within the mediums of cinema and performance in the 21st century. Where does artifice end and experience begin?

A wickedly smart film.
Brilliant, start to finish.
