name a more iconic couple...i'll wait...

    Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!

    ★★

i personally would never advocate the flagrant disrespect of the cinematic arts and blatantly ignoring a director's sacred vision...but nobody's going to know if you fast forward through everything except the songs in your own home

    ★★★½

gorgeous. the kind of movie where you don't realize how much you care until the ending...

  • Prince Charming

    Prince Charming

    ★★

juvenile and moderately offensive but i did, unfortunately, laugh

  • Pit Stop

    Pit Stop

    ★★★★

alternate title "the winner" is so much better - turns it into a twilight zone episode about toxic masculinity that kicks your ass at the end.

  • Barsaat

    Barsaat

    ★★★

this has literally everything - action, romance, drama, comedy, heartbreak, politics, music, fashion, plot twists, pranks - but despite that and the very charming leads it kind of fell flat for me. i love excess but this was somehow both too much and not enough. still liked it though. would probably be fun to watch with friends.

incredible that this tragic a premise could be so full of love and happiness..i have watched the dhoom taana scene a million times in the past week, and whenever i'm not watching it i'm thinking about how i wish i was.

    Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai

    ★★★★

absolutely essential cinema for fans of hunks and extremely cursed 2000-era fashions

  • The Lost Empire

    The Lost Empire

    ★★

literally nothing more 1980s than 90mins of huge boobs bouncing around in a problematic native american costume

  • A Chinese Ghost Story

    A Chinese Ghost Story

    ★★★½

not quite as cool as the poster (is anything?!) but the sfx + flowing robes are glorious...imagine i'd give this a way higher rating if i saw a 35mm print or something rather than a mediocre dvd transfer...

  • Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!

    Oh Darling! Yeh Hai India!

    ★★★★

the title and poster focus on the scattered moments of cheeky humor but this is a strange dream of a movie, all fog and echoes and statues coming to life and singing prostitutes and evil tattooed villains in mirrored science fiction lairs. with this & maya memsaab, even if his other movies are awful, i'm in love with ketan mehta

  • Fright Night Part 2

    Fright Night Part 2

    ★★½

would have been a million times better if it was only about the cool vamps and brian thompson eating bugs without the whole main story about a guy trying to convince his gf she's in love so they can finally do it
