Richard Boivin’s review published on Letterboxd:
I had seen Traffic a few times back in the 2000s but I hadn't seen it in the last 10 years. I remember really liking it back then but this time I was kinda bored.
Don't get me wrong it's still a really good film, I like all the different storylines that intertwine, but it's really slow during certain scenes and with the 2h30 length of the movie, I found myself zoning out a few times.
I had forgotten that this was filmed in a sort of documentary/hidden camera style which can get annoying with all the shaking. Also, that effect with the different color grading for each story might've looked cool to me 20 years ago, but it looks pretty dated rewatching it now.
Fortunately Traffic features a stacked cast and everyone's doing great performances so it really makes up for all of it.
