  • Children of the Sea

    Children of the Sea

    ★★★½

You’re telling me David Lynch didn’t direct this? Not even just the third act? I mean, surely he must hav—no? Oh...

  • Interstellar

    Interstellar

    ★★★½

The performances are great, it totally hits me in the feels, the effects are incredible, and the score is even better—integral to the film and just one of my favorites of all time—but 6 years after having seen it for the first time I STILL don’t know what the fuck is going on.
I love Nolan and all of his other movies, but this one just frustrates the hell out of me. Other “complicated” movies such as Arrival or Synecdoche,…

  • Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)

    ★★★½

This was fun! Impossible not to love Margot as Harley, she’s so passionate about the character and clearly has a lot of fun with it, as does the rest of the cast. Got Scott Pilgrim vs The World vibes here and there, and slight Tarantino vibes with the Huntress flashbacks. Colorful and fun. First 2020 movie...3 months in lmao.

  • Where'd You Go, Bernadette

    Where'd You Go, Bernadette

    ★★★½

So I read the book earlier this year in anticipation for this film, and although seeing it all unfold on the screen knowing the story probably made it a more fun and satisfactory viewing experience, I think regardless of whether or not you read the book, it’s still an enjoyable film. There’s just too much talent on and off the screen to not have a good time with it (I mean c’mon, Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig, Richard Linklater...literally a dream),…

  • Crawl

    Crawl

    ★★★½

Student athletes vs. natural disasters and dangerous animals is my new favorite genre.

  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

    ★★★½

Yeah I still need to process it and give it another go to know how I really feel about it. I mean I didn’t not like it, but that’s all I know coming out of it.

I’ll say this though, it’s a shame that it turned out this way for Star Wars. The observations that people had about the story feeling very last minute and all that are true, but then again it’s like well, yeah, no shit lol. After…

  • The King

    The King

    ★★★½

I kept waiting for Rob to show up.

  • It Chapter Two

    It Chapter Two

    ★★★½

I wanna hug Bill Hader too.

  • Cold War

    Cold War

    ★★★½

I’d been wanting to watch this for so long and I was afraid I’d missed it but I finally got a chance to see it and... I kept falling asleep. That’s on me, though. I really wanted to love this but I blame my sleep deprived ass.
The movie was gorgeous looking though, definitely deserving of the cinematography nomination, and the music was great too, I actually didn’t expect music to play such an integral role in the film (no…

  • Scenes from the Suburbs

    Scenes from the Suburbs

    ★★★½

The only good thing to come from the suburbs is the album.

  • Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

    Black Mirror: Bandersnatch

    ★★★½

Idk how many endings/paths there are but the first one I got was the Tarantino ending with the dr. so I’ll take it.

  • Vanilla Sky

    Vanilla Sky

    ★★★½

“Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.”

“You barely knew her in your real life, but in your lucid dream she was your savior.”

Well, this wasn’t the conventional love story with a pinch of fantasy I signed up for.

Alternate review: What the fuck was this movie???

    Alternate alternate review:
The dad from Submarine: “Forgive me, I’m blowing your mind.”
    Me: “Well no shit.”
