This unseen gem is amazing. I don't know how or why this vanished from cinematic history, but it's a real shame. It falls firmly into that sweet spot between legitimately solid action film and odd passion project. It's awkward in every way, and in all the right ways.

But let's start with star and writer Kely McClung as DEA agent John Lambert. McClung is exactly what you want in this role: a guy with quality martial arts skills and a…

    Attack of the Beast Creatures

My luck with tiny monster movies has been great lately!

Attack of the Beast Creatures is populated completely by people who only appeared in Attack of the Beast Creatures. Written, directed, edited and produced by people who only worked on Attack of the Beast Creatures. It appears to be a pure, uncut labor of love...and I love it for that.

The story's simple. Castaways from the shipwreck Obelisk wash ashore on an island that is infested with tiny little dolls…

A space jelly is pulling global smash-and-grabs on the Earth's supply of carbon, particularly extremely crunchy diamonds, and the world's jewel brokers unite to dispatch the "Diamond G-Man" Mark Jackson (Robert Dunham) to Japan to investigate. With local lawman Komai (Yosuke Natsuki), grumpy scientist Dr. Munakata (Nobuo Nakamura) and his assistant Masayo Kirino (Yoko Fujiyama), our quartet of crystal cops will try to find a way to save the world's wealth before Dogora realizes how much carbon is stashed inside…

    Ghoul School

After a botched robbery to steal the vast uptapped wealth of a high school janitor, a pair of criminals accidentally unleash Arma-ghoul-den by pushing the wrong button and contaminating the local water supply. It'll be up to resident gorehounds Steve and Jeff as well as heavy metal entertainers Blood Sucking Ghouls to stop the mutated swim team and the aforementioned criminals from devouring everybody still hanging out in the school after dark. But especially the world's worst basketball team.

    Lupin III: The First

I know next to nothing about Lupin III and his crew, but this was delightful.

The CG animation looks amazing, the score is awesome and the plot, while borrowing fairly heavily from certain other treasure-seeking films, takes away all the right lessons while retaining its own personality.

That cool trailer (basically just the opening credits) didn't give away any plot details, so neither will I. When it's available in your area, and if you enjoy light theft-based entertainment, give it a chance.
