I kept thinking yeah, Greta Gerwig's doing a good job directing this thing, but who wrote it because they should definitely be nominated and then . . . oh yeah Greta Gerwig wrote it! Damn fine job at knocking it out of the park on your first try! I am not this film's targeted audience and I expected to hate it, so put it off as long as I could. Lo and behold, as many have already said before, it's one of the best of the year and one of the absolute best coming of age films ever. I'm a forty-year-old man and it made me a little weepy because I remember being Ladybird's age but more because I know what it's like to be the parents. Good stuff.
