Catus’s review published on Letterboxd:
“It is the gods who weep. They see us killing each other over and over since time began. They can't save us from ourselves”
Chaos and madness from the perspective of an omnipresent but helpless god, if you like. Milliards of soldiers and almighty kings and lords as miniature chess pieces, futile and almost comically small and angry in the backdrop of an unforgiving landscape of beauty and color. Kurosawa was the god who wheeps.
