While We're Young

While We're Young ★★★½

There's a lot that could be discussed back and forth in regards to While We're Young--what Adam Driver and Ben Stiller represent in regards to Noah Baumbach's point of view, whether the women in the film have their perspective marginalized or not, whether the film is optimistic or fatalistic in regards to aging and social roles. For me, though, the main thing is that it's FUNNY. (It doesn't hurt that I'm in the sweet spot between the two male leads here to feel above it all). Always good to see Charles Grodin, of course, and Naomi Watts is a gosh darn international treasure. I'm pretty sure I will never be able to listen to 'Hit 'em Up' again, now, without associating it with her.

As it should be.
