Literally the only reason I watched this is so I could log something on the first day of December.

Epic in every sense of the word, and I actually cared for the characters this time.

I can see why this won Best Picture.

Almost a perfect finale. I just wish Christopher Lee was actually in it 💀

Preferred it over Fellowship of the Ring mainly due to its better structure and that it’s more focused. Fellowship felt like it was covering too much ground in one film.

I can definitely see TLJ being influenced by this one.

They really didn’t know what to do with Frodo and Sam in this one tho. There’s a lot of walking and stopping and talking and walking and stopping and talking.

However, the third act was much stronger this time.

Every 15 mins Frodo meets a new character and they’re like “Hey my name is Sbdisgsksud bsisgwis. I can speak monologues. Anyway bye see you in the next movie I think!”

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

    Electric from start to finish.

I can understand people’s problems with the third act and it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to make an argument for either side, but I definitely don’t think it undermines what the film is trying to say at all. It makes sense for the men to want sympathy because they feel like they’re the victims (as that tends to happen) but they’re very clearly not. Sandy has her Joker arc and good for her…

A different kind of 5 star than Maid was. Maid had the better writing and emotional gut punch but this absolutely has the best craft and filmmaking than any Netflix show I’ve seen before. The set design and the visuals are so cinematic from its recreation of Europe (it oddly gave Killing Eve vibes).

I had no idea chess could ever be that intense.

Anya Taylor-Joy might be my current favourite actress at the moment (and I haven’t even seen Last Night in Soho yet!)

Great stuff. I’m very happy this got the recognition it deserved.

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
    There she stood in the doorway;
    I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed…
