Real brolly-buster, isn't it?
In retrospect, so much of what I enjoy about movies was informed by watching Joel Schumacher's and Tim Burton's (admittedly, and wonderfully, goofy) Batman movies as a child.
Schumacher's flamboyant visual choices and psychedelic sense of humour just made so much sense to me as a weird gothy kid, sat on the sitting room floor watching Batman Forever for the sixth time. Stylised family drama/psychopath coming of age story with some darkly comedic elements and a blood fetish. So: 10/10 perfect first date movie if you want to weed out the normies early.
I sort of feel like this could have been more fucked up? Not sure what that says about me. Still, highly recommended for the dreamy, blood-soaked fantasy sequences, the pitch perfect teen drama, and the John Waters cameo.
