Moronic comedy where neurotic characters gather for a 15yr old’s intervention but don’t realize the 15year old is the normal one and everyone else needs help. This had the potential to be hilarious and dark. The writing is bland and lacks edge and the direction is pedestrian. A waste of money even for Redbox standards.

  • Shazam!

Big hearted and fun. I’m glad the DCEU is on a roll making movies that aren’t a slog to sit through. Seriously, the kid playing Batman vs Superman with his figurines in Shazam! was more interesting than the entire Batman Vs Superman movie. But anyways, Shazam! treats it’s measages of family and friendships seriously, elevating this superhero movie into a solid entry in this universe.

  • Detour

Enjoyable and nasty film noir with a vicious femme fatale.

  • Climax

Mesmerizing. Engrosses you from the first frame. Be sure to notice the titles on the sides of tv during the interview scene. The themes of those books and movies are evident in Climax. One of Gasper Noe’s more accessible films.

  • Greta

Entertaining enough. Pretty thin plot and character development. The movie would have been much richer if characters’ background were handled with more depth than one or two lines of dialogue. A solid “B” movie getting “A” level treatment.

  • Skin

Not quite sure why this short film is getting a lot of hate, but this movie is a tragic reminder of how hate begins and needs to end in the home.
I showed it to my students. They thought it was hilarious but they’re 9th graders.

    Isn't It Romantic

Cheesy, light weight,  but Rebel Wilson sells this meta uptake of romantic comedy cliches into a fun escape

  • Never Look Away

    Never Look Away

The best movie of 2018 imo and one of the best movies I’ve seen. This film is engrossing from opening the 3 hours flies by. Incredible performances, beautiful score. This movie unfolds like a great novel you don’t want to have end. Characters you love, and some you despise. A Funny, heartbreaking, and beautiful film.

  • Overlord

A surprise mix of war and horror that works. Fun, exciting, and scary at times.

  • The Kid Who Would Be King

The Kid Who Would Be King

Fun and enjoyable. It’s not gettting much love at the box office but it deserves to be seen. And that’s the English teacher in me reviewing this.

  • Escape Room

    Escape Room

Better that most January releases. Entertaining and fun. Throw logic out the door and enjoy the escape.

  • Teen Titans Go! To the Movies

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies

Fast paced, entertaining animated movie. I’ve never seen the original cartoon but this movie kept me interested and the jokes were inspired and witty.
