After Hours

After Hours ★★★★½

absolutely brilliant. a bizarre, night-long fever dream that introduces you to the grittiest parts of soho, be it the people or the locations. the situations that paul gets into are so unpredictable that you can't help but laugh at the absurdity of his predicament. all of the scorsese elements we love are there too, most notably the fast pacing and swift camera movements. if you double feature this with one of the safdie brothers' films you'd probably have a heart attack. noah baumbach here definitely did not have a good time (2017).
