What else can really be said about this movie? It’s a movie that genuinely scared tons of people. To appreciate this movie though, you have to flashback to a time before Freddy became a horror icon. Yeah he’s still a jokester here, but this was before the series became commercialized and Krueger became an MTV star. Wes Craven really created something genius here. An undead serial killer who gets you when you fall asleep? Amazing idea that’s hard to appreciate now because of all that has come since. The dream (nightmare) sequences are truly amazing and scary. The death scenes are terrifying. I’m truly amazed that this still effects me after watching it so many times.
